Practicing violinist, composer, and musician
Quinton picked up the violin and began taking fiddle lessons when he was seven years old. Kuhn studied with Grand Master and National Champion, Katrina Nicolayeff for five years. In 2012, Kuhn switched over to classical music, but still plays a small amount of Fiddle music. In 2018-2020, Quinton has studied with under Marilyn Short, who has been teaching for over 40+ years. Then in 2022, Geoffrey Hill, Principal Second Violinist in the Boise Philharmonic. Kuhn now attends Cornish College of the Arts studying under Michael Lim, concert master for the Seattle Ballet Orchestra. Kuhn is majoring in Music with an emphasis in violin performance and composition.
Quinton has graduated with Valedictorian honors from Idaho Arts Charter School in May of 2023. While at IACS, Kuhn was the first ever elementary student to be in the advanced middle school orchestra. Then to be the first ever middle school student to participate in the high school orchestra, earning a spot in the varsity level, top orchestra, Phoenix Strings. As a High School student, Kuhn achieved the role of concertmaster -- 1st Chair of the first violins sections -- for the premier orchestra and played lead violin in multiple audition-only performance groups.
Outside of School, Kuhn participated in the Boise Philharmonic Youth Orchestra for three years: two years in Concert Orchestra (Concertmaster 2021-2023); one year in Symphony Orchestra. Kuhn has played in Canyon County Symphony, a local orchestra in the Treasure Valley, as the concert master for two years. Lastly, Kuhn had the privilege to attend All-State Orchestra and perform at Carnegie Hall in New York as part of the Honors Performance Series.
